Car crash kills Hau'ula woman

Advertiser Staff

A 24-year-old Hau'ula woman died today after crashing her car into a wall on Kamehameha Highway near Puhuli Street in Hau'ula.

The medical examiner's office identified the woman as Daysia P. Lee. Her Washington state driver's license identified her as Daysia Pomaikai Manai Chee Lee.

Lee was the lone occupant in a 1991 Acura Legend that was traveling toward Kahuku when it veered off course and struck a hollow-tile wall in front of 53-643 Kamehameha Highway. Police were notified of the crash at 2:40 a.m.

Lee was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:17 a.m., police said.

Speed may be a factor in the crash, according to vehicular homicide investigators.

Lee's death is the 10th this month and 68th traffic fatality of the year on O'ahu. There were 55 traffic deaths on this date last year.
