Livingston fills Hawai'i Kai seat

The Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board has appointed David Livingston to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Charlie Rodgers. Livingston served on the board in 1999-2001. He will represent the community at-large. The filling of the vacancy gives the advisory board a full complement of 15 members.

155 mayors in united stand

Mayor Jeremy Harris has joined 154 mayors from across the country in urging the federal government to support the cities' efforts in reducing global warming.

Members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the National League of Cities have signed a bipartisan "Mayor's Statement on Global Warming," which can be read at www.iclei.org/us/mayors_statement/statement.

"Honolulu is one of many cities across the country (that are) embracing sustainable practices aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions — a primary cause of global warming," Harris said in a news release.

"By joining forces with other mayors to encourage state and national governments to address the challenge of global warming, we hope to increase public awareness of an issue critical to the survival of our planet."
