Police search for missing man

Yorck Kenneth Woita was last seen Friday.
Police are searching for Yorck Kenneth Woita, a man who went missing Friday from the Kailua area.

Woita, who had been registered at a Waikiki hotel, was last seen Friday driving a yellow Nissan X-Terra at about 5:15 p.m. About 9 p.m., police found the X-Terra on Mokulama Street in Waimanalo, abandoned and on fire.

Woita's friends and family have not heard from him since early Friday. Woita, 28, is 6 feet 2, weighs 160 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Woita was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt, possibly with white sleeves. He was wearing blue jeans and a pair of white Converse "Star" tennis shoes, and wore a 20-inch gold chain and a stainless TAG Heuer watch.

The license number of the yellow, 2000 Nissan X-Terra was JBJ 067.


One-car crash kills Puna woman

HILO, Hawai'i — An unidentified 52-year-old Puna woman died Saturday after a one-car crash on the Big Island. Police said the woman was driving south on Route 11 in South Hilo and nearing the four-mile marker when her car left the road and struck a large boulder. She was pronounced dead at Hilo Medical Center.


Parked car hit; woman injured

A woman was injured early yesterday while sleeping in a parked car at Yokohama Beach Park, and police are looking for a hit-and-run driver. Police said a car rammed into the woman's car at 3:30 a.m. She suffered two broken legs and was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in stable condition.
