'Reality' dating gets aloha spirit

A local "reality" dating show called "The Lei" has landed a date on late-night TV.

With a two-date-per-episode format that mirrors the genre's "Blind Date," "Dismissed" and "elimiDATE" counterparts, "The Lei" adds aloha flavor with shakas, lei and local nightspots.

Producers Michael Paz and Ian Fernandez of 808 Fade-In Productions bought a midnight time slot to get the show on the air.

It premieres Sept. 14 (late Sunday or early Monday) on KITV-4, the ABC affiliate.

Discount pass means bargains at Ward

For those who frequent Ward businesses — think Dave & Buster's, Ryan's Grill or The Old Spaghetti Factory — consider buying a Hospitality Card and score a bunch of bargains.

The card, offered by the Concierge Services at Ward, gives discounts at more than a dozen Ward establishments, including the above eateries, Compadres Bar and Grill, Salon Bobbi N' Guy and Mango Moon.

A Hospitality Sticker offers the same deals and can be placed on a cell phone. The card and sticker cost $9 and $12, respectively.

Cards are available at the Concierge Services office in the Ward Stadium 16-Plex lobby. Stickers may be purchased at the GCI Wireless store by the University of Hawai'i or at the Xpress Wireless kiosk in the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange. Visit www.hawaiiconcierge.com or call 597-1243.
