The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will present Family Day, a free program of entertainment and information on Hawaiian programs and issues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kapi'olani Park bandstand.
The event also is the ending point of a march through Waikiki by supporters of Hawaiian entitlement programs. Marchers will assemble at 7:30 a.m. at Kalakaua Avenue and Saratoga Road. The march will begin at 8:30.
A coalition representing Kamehameha Schools, OHA, Ka Lahui Hawai'i and other Hawaiian organizations issued statements yesterday urging the general public to participate.
Following a rally at the park will be a program of Hawaiian cultural demonstrations, food, music, hula, keiki games and activities, and Hawaiian arts and crafts.
Entertainment will include music by Makaha Sons, Tony Conjugacion, Kanilau, Sudden Rush, Simplisity, Five by 5, the Royal Hawaiian Band and Mahiehie. Jennifer Oyama, Miss Aloha Hula, will be among the dance performers, which also will include Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahulu and Halau O Ke 'A'ali'i Ku Makani.
