The Interscholastic League of Honolulu has agreed in principle to a one-year deal to televise its athletic events, according to a press release.

Sponsorship and advertising are pending, according to MCS Videoworks, which will produce the broadcasts for the private-school league.

Tentatively, there are seven scheduled football telecasts from Aloha Stadium, including six doubleheaders. Games will be shown live on a pay-per-view basis on Oceanic Cable, then rebroadcast later in the week at no charge.

John Noland will be the lead broadcaster with Chris Schutter and Dave Vinton providing commentary.

Other sports expected to be televised are volleyball, basketball, wrestling, softball and baseball.

"It is an excellent opportunity for our student-athletes, athletic programs and the 24 educational institutions that make up the Interscholastic League of Honolulu," ILH executive director Don Botelho said in the release.

Three other Hawai'i surfers — Shane Dorian, Bruce Irons and Kalani Robb — lost in the first round, but have yet to compete in the elimination second round.
