Catch of the day

Advertiser Staff

Shogo Yoshimura of Kailua earned a $10 reward and aided a scientific experiment when he landed this 7-pound moi in Kane'ohe Bay. The Oceanic Institute, which breeds, tags and releases moi, gave Yoshimura $10 and returned the fish after studying it. "They do research on what they (moi) eat," says Yoshimura's wife, Tammy. It took 15 minutes for Shogo to land the moi, which he brought in on 10-pound test line. Shogo is reluctant to say exactly where he caught the fish. "That's where the big moi are," Tammy says.
