'Bows will play first time in Maui event

Advertiser Staff

An initial appearance in the EA Sports Maui Invitational and the 40th Annual Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic are among the highlights in the 2003-04 University of Hawai'i men's basketball schedule.

The UH schedule was finalized last week after a snag in the Western Athletic Conference schedule was resolved.

The regular-season schedule features 18 WAC games and 11 non-conference games.

For the second consecutive season, the 'Bows will also participate in ESPN's Bracket Buster Saturday. Hawai'i will play a road game against a yet to be determined opponent on Feb. 21.

Because of the Bracket Buster game, UH had to shuffle three WAC games. A road game at Texas-El Paso was pushed back two days to Feb. 23; home games against Tulsa (Feb. 27) and Rice (Feb. 29) were pushed back by one day each.

The 'Bows will open the season with a home exhibition game against Brigham Young-Hawai'i on Nov. 17. The first regular-season game will be against UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 21.
