Advertiser Staff and News Services

The defense contractor High Technology Solutions of San Diego has won a five-year contract at the Pacific Missile Range Facility. The total value of the deal could exceed $30 million over the term of the contract.

HTS has been working at the range since 1996, and under the new contract will continue to provide documentation, technical support and other services to programs that use the missile range, said Dave Nekomoto, Kaua'i site manager for HTS. Some of those programs in the past have included the Helios solar aircraft, Theater Ballistic Missile Defense program and the STARS missile system.

Nekomoto said the privately owned company has 20 employees on the island, and depending on the programs brought to the range, that number could at times rise to more than 50.

Norwegian Cruise Line has hired Steven Matsuo to be its director of marketing and sales for Asia and Australia.

Matsuo is moving to Norwegian from his job as the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau's sales director for Japan. His department at the bureau will be eliminated because HVCB lost its Japan marketing contract.
