YUKIO "YUKI" OKUTSU, a World War II veteran whose Distinguished Service Cross award was later upgraded to a Medal of Honor, has died. He was 81. See story.

DANIEL COSTA, 63, of Hilo, Hawai'i, died Sept. 1, 2003. Owner of Danny Costa Painting Service, Hilo. Survived by wife, Virginia; daughters, Joan Iona and Jacqueline "Jackie" Kahana; sons, Alvin and Anthony Pagan; sisters, Violet Nakea, Lillian Perreira, Thelma Riviera and May Agcalon; brothers, Herman, Lawrence and Herbert Costa, and Gilbert DeCosta; 15 grandchildren. MARCELO DIZON, 78, of Nanakuli, died Sept. 4, 2003. Born in the Philippines. Former Philippines restaurant owner. LAURA MARIE FELIX, 49, of Los Gatos, Calif., formerly of Honolulu, died Aug. 24, 2003. Born in Honolulu. Safety engineer, specializing in environmental issues and occupational safety, with experience with Hawai'i and California state governments, Marsh McLennan Inc., Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. and Applied Materials. Survived by husband, John Harokiewicz; daughter, Nina Harokiewicz; son, Jonathan Harokiewicz; father, John Henry; brother, John Morgan; sisters, Melinda "Linda" Di Ciro and Debbie Dunlop; stepsisters, Jayne Modell and Annette Rovison; grandmother, Melinda Freitas. SIDNEY RAPHAEL KALAMAKUIKALANI SPRINGER, 72, of Kailua, Kona, Hawai'i, died Aug. 24, 2003. Born in Kailua, Kona. Retired Army first sergeant; and recipient of more than two dozen medals in the Korean and Vietnam wars, including Silver Star, Bronze Star and several Purple Hearts; also, volunteer with Department of Veterans Affairs, Big Island Memorial Committee.
