DeHay lifts UH soccer team to 1-0 victory over Long Beach

Advertiser Staff

Robin deHay's first-half goal lifted the University of Hawai'i to its third consecutive victory — a 1-0 conquest of host Long Beach State yesterday at George Allen Field.

The Rainbow Wahine (3-1) conclude a three-match road trip today at UC Riverside.

UH may have to play without senior midfielder Mia Moe, who assisted on deHay's goal before suffering a sprained left knee.

Moe lofted a diagonal pass from the right flank to deHay, who beat her defender up the middle, dribbled a few yards and ripped a right-footed shot into the goal from eight yards in the 25th minute.

After withstanding three shot attempts by UH sophomore Natasha Kai, the 49ers (0-4) made one final push but Erin Empting's shot from 20 yards on an empty goal sailed high.
