3 men charged in fraudulent purchases

Police yesterday charged three California men with multiple counts of using fraudulent credit cards and identification to purchase Rolex watches from two jewelry stores at Ala Moana Center over the weekend.

Donovan Johnson, 33, described by police as the ringleader, was charged with detaining stolen property, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, second-degree identity theft, and theft of a credit card. Also charged are Chris Myers, 35, and Cornelius Flavin, 49, also known as Warren Canada.

The three men are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail apiece.

Man arrested for threatening

Charges are pending against a 27-year-old Waipahu man who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of intimidating and threatening witnesses in an upcoming murder trial.

The man was booked yesterday at 3:45 p.m. for alleged intimidation of a witness and first-degree terroristic threatening. The offenses are connected to the March 29 shotgun-shooting death of Tupu tala Esau in Waipahu, said Lt. Bill Kato.

Emanuelu Tunoa was charged in April with second-degree murder and is being held on $700,000 bail. His murder trial is scheduled to start the week of Oct. 13-17.

Two released after arrests in drug raid

Two people arrested in a drug raid Saturday on a Niu Valley home have been released pending further investigation for possible indictment at a later date.

A man, 50, and woman, 43, were booked on suspicion of first-degree promotion of a harmful drug, first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia following the 7:25 a.m. raid on a Haleola Street residence.

Police seized one-eighth of an ounce of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana in the raid.

Man run over on Ala Moana identified

The medical examiner’s office today identified the man who was run over by a car Thursday while lying on Ala Moana Boulevard as Larry S. Henry, 56.

Henry died of multiple injuries. The medical examiner has requested further tests to determine why he might have been lying on the roadway at 11:45 p.m.

3 charged in Po'ipu auto chase, shooting

Kaua'i police have charged three Kalaheo residents with attempted second-degree murder in connection with Friday’s auto chase and shooting on a dirt road in Po'ipu.

Owen S. Konishi, 36; Winona N. Ragragola, 42; and Aaron K.

Kahalewai, 27, are being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Several shots were fired at a 31-year-old man whose vehicle was being pursued by a pickup truck and van, police said. No one was injured in the shooting incident.

Liliha water main break snarls traffic

Repair work on 45 feet of a 12-inch water main that ruptured yesterday kept four lanes of Liliha Street between Bates and Judd streets closed for most of today. Water service was restored to 50 to 60 customers at 7 a.m. today, said Board of Water Supply spokesperson Tracy Burgo.

The main break was reported at 1:45 p.m. yesterday.

Kaua'i man injured in one-car crash

A 55-year-old Kaua'i man remained in critical condition today after a single-car accident Sunday night on Kaumuali'i Highway near Hanapepe.

The man, a Waimea resident, was transferred from Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital to The Queen’s Medical Center, police said.

Kaua'i traffic investigators suspect speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Police said the man’s Toyota sedan veered off the roadway, struck a guard rail and ended up in a ditch 25 feet below.
