Intruder hits Maui teacher

KAHULUI, Maui — Police are looking for a man who entered a teacher's room at Lihikai School early yesterday and struck her in the head.

At about 5 a.m., a man wearing black clothing and a black ski mask hit the 51-year-old woman once with what appeared to be a handgun, said Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The assailant was seen running toward Kunu Place.

The teacher suffered a cut on her scalp and was treated at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku.
