The Brigham Young-Hawai'i women's volleyball team climbed five spots to No. 2 in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll and had one of its players earn national and conference honors.

The Seasiders (5-2) — the defending NCAA Division II champions — defeated one Division I-A team and upset two top-10 teams last week. BYUH defeated Utah Valley State, 3-1, on Sept. 2, fifth-ranked Barry (Fla.), 3-2, on Sept. 6 and second-ranked UC San Diego, 3-2, on Sept. 6.

Hawai'i Pacific (5-2) dropped one spot to No. 15 after losing two of three matches last week. The Sea Warriors defeated St. Mary's (Texas), 3-0, on Sept. 3 and lost to Barry, 3-2, on Sept. 4 and UC San Diego, 3-2, on Sept. 5.

BYUH middle blocker Chun Yi Lin earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week award for her performances in the Seasiders' three victories.

The 6-foot-1 sophomore from Pingtune, Taiwan, was also named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week.

For the week, Lin hammered 73 kills while hitting .481. She averaged 5.2 kills and 1.43 blocks per game. She leads the PacWest in hitting (.444).
