Ko'olau's Lynch leads AT&T golf

Ko'olau Golf Club's John Lynch shot a 1-under par 71 yesterday for a two-shot lead after the second day of the 13th AT&T Stroke Play Championship at the Mauna Kea Golf Course on the Big Island.
The final round of the 54-hole tournament is scheduled for today.
Lynch is at 3-under 141. Pearl Country Club's Beau Yokomoto shot a 70 to move into second place at 143. Makena's Brian Sasada shot a 70 and is tied with Ko Olina's Kevin Carll (71) at 144.
Steven Hookano (72-148) and Larry Stubblefield (74-148) are tied for first in the senior division.

Ting advances: Desiree Ting of Wailuku, Maui, shot a 3-over-par 75 to capture the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur qualifier at Mid-Pacific Country Club yesterday.
Ting will play at the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, Oct. 11 to 16 at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
First alternate was Mona Kim-Lee (78).
CROSS COUNTRY
HPU sweeps: Hawai'i Pacific swept the men's and women's cross country team titles in the Chaminade Invitational on Saturday in La'ie.
HPU scored a team-low 22 points in the men's race followed by Hawai'i-Hilo (56), Brigham Young-Hawai'i (59), Chaminade (92) and California State University-Monterey Bay (127). HPU's William Ngetich won the 8-kilometer race in 26 minutes and 38 seconds.
In the women's race, HPU scored 24 points followed by Brigham Young-Hawai'i (69), Hawai'i-Hilo (79), UH-Manoa (89) and Chaminade (108). BYUH's Chelsea Smith won the women's 5-kilometer race in 17:51.
