Ko'olau's Lynch wins AT&T golf on Big Island

Ko'olau Golf Club's John Lynch shot an even-par 72 to win the 13th AT&T Stroke Play Championship at the Mauna Kea Golf Course on the Big Island.

Lynch finished at 3-under 213, and won $2,900 in the three-round tournament. Kevin Carll of Ko Olina finished second at 72—216 and takes home $1,900, and Pearl Country Club's Beau Yokomoto (74—217) came in third and won $1,500.

Larry Stubblefield (unattached) defended his senior title by shooting 218. He won $1,000.


BOXING

Salud will fight next month: Hawai'i boxer Jesus Salud returns to the ring in Honolulu next month.

Salud, 40, is slated to fight Ruben Estanisloa, 26, of Mexico, on Oct. 24 for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific featherweight title.

It will be Salud's first fight at home since losing to Fernando "Bobby Boy" Velardez of California on May 15, 2001.

Salud, of Nanakuli, holds a 63-13 record, with 39 knockouts.

He is a former world champion.
