Advertiser Staff

The average price of gasoline statewide rose to $2.119 today, making Hawai'i once again the most expensive state to fill ’er up. The average price matches the previous high set on Sept. 2, according to the AAA travel club.

The average price for regular fell by nearly a penny to $2.116 in California, second-highest in prices at the pump. The nationwide average fell to $1.690 a gallon as demand declined following the Labor Day weekend.

On O'ahu, demand is up because of the bus strike.

"We do see an uptick in demand at the gas pumps, but I’m not willing to say that accounts for everything," said Albert Chee, ChevronTexaco Corp. spokesman.
