Pair charged in Kailua burglaries

Police yesterday charged two men with burglarizing two Kailua-area homes on Wednesday and last Friday.

Anthony K. Rodrigues, 23, is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of auto theft and first-degree hindering prosecution. Seth Dick, 22, is accused of two burglaries and auto theft.

The two men were arrested Wednesday in Pearl City after trying to flee from police, who had spotted them at the intersection of Pali and Kamehameha highways in Windward O'ahu. The men drove on the H-3 to Waikele and back toward Pearl City but were being tracked by a police helicopter. They were arrested after getting stuck in traffic on Kamehameha Highway and Ka'ahumanu Street.

Suspect indicted on drug offenses

A 49-year-old Salt Lake man was indicted Wednesday by an O'ahu grand jury on multiple drug offenses stemming from an undercover police investigation last September.

Gary Ming Hing Ling was arrested yesterday at his Likini Street residence. He is charged with first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, five counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The dangerous drug counts involve crystal methamphetamine.

Ling was scheduled to be arraigned today in Circuit Court. His bail is $100,000.

Man’s death not related to crash

A 50-year-old Papakolea man died of natural causes and not from injuries related to the crash of his pickup truck Wednesday night on Likelike Highway north of Kalihi Street.

The preliminary determination of an autopsy is that Eisen Kahue suffered cardiac arrhythmia. According to witnesses, Kahue was slumped over the steering wheel of his 1991 GMC pickup truck before it suddenly accelerated, crossed the median and struck a utility pole and wall.
