How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Statewide occupancy for the week ending Sept. 6 was lower than the high levels recorded the past several weeks, but nonetheless improved over last year to 67.5 percent, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Statewide room rates improved slightly by 1 percent to $133.75 as the visitor industry enters its slower season. Kaua'i continued to maintain impressive occupancy at 78 percent, while all other islands saw occupancy drop below 70 percent for the week. O'ahu saw a gain in occupancy to 68.4 percent.
