Bill would lift limit on veteran loans

WASHINGTON The U.S. House this week approved a bill that eliminates a cap on a federal program that provides home loans to Native American veterans, including Native Hawaiians.
The Department of Veterans Affairs had a $5 million cap on the program, which was exceeded earlier this year, blocking home loans to some veterans.
"This program is clearly a success,'' said Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawai'i, a co-sponsor of the bill with Rep. Ed Case, D-Hawai'i. "It keeps faith with Native Hawaiians and Native Americans who have served and sacrificed for our nation."
