UH's Kai scores five goals, smashes school soccer record

Advertiser Staff

Sophomore forward Natasha Kai scored a school record five goals as Hawai'i routed Morehead State (Ky.), 8-0, to win the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Soccer Classic yesterday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Kai's five goals and 11 points eclipsed the previous marks of three and six, which she shared with other players.

"We had much too much speed for them," Hawai'i coach Pinsoom Tenzing said. "Natasha Kai was in full flight, and there was nothing anybody on earth could do about it."

Junior Tasha Hagan, junior Kalena Eaton and senior Arlene Devitt also scored for the Rainbow Wahine (5-1-1), who also broke the school points record with 23 and tied the assist mark of seven.

Tenzing rested All-WAC goalie Mahie Atay last night. Erin Chow earned the shutout against the Lady Eagles (1-4-1).
