BOISE, Idaho — Parker McLachlin parred the first playoff hole today to qualify for the Albertsons Boise Open, a Nationwide Tour event that starts Thursday in Idaho.

It will be McLachlin's first event as a pro. The 1996 Hawai'i state high school champion turned pro yesterday.

Parker's little brother Spencer is in the same Punahou freshman class as Michelle Wie, who will became the first junior female amateur to play in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event this week. Wie recceived a sponsor's exemption to play in the Boise Open.

Wie and Parker McLachlin played a practice round together today after Parker qualified. He shot a 5-under-par 67 at nearby BanBury Golf Club yesterday during qualifying and tied for eighth with seven others. Those eight came back this morning to play for the final seven spots. Kelly Grunewald bogeyed the first hole to fall out of contention.

Nearly 180 players tried to qualify for 14 spots.

Kamehameha Schools graduate Keoke Cotner is also in the field. Cotner , who won a Nationwide event in 2000, is 63rd on the money list with nearly $60,000.
