Fire reported near military post

The Honolulu Fire Department yesterday assisted federal firefighters in battling a stubborn brushfire near the Helemano Military Reservation.

The fire was reported Sunday, but was not threatening any structures, said HFD spokesman Capt. Emmit Kane. Kane said that almost 30 firefighters and the department's two helicopters were expected to be at the scene for most of yesterday.
