Sing Chow, Steele honored

Hawai'i-Hilo softball players Leo Sing Chow and Sarah Steele have been recognized as National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athletes for 2002-03.
To qualify for the recognition a student-athlete must have acquired a 3.5 grade-point average for the year.
Sing Chow, a former Kamehameha Schools standout, earned NCAA Division II All-West Region second-team honors and was also named the Pacific West Conference's Freshman of the Year.
She amassed a 14-3 record with 70 strikeouts, and led the PacWest with a 0.66 ERA.
Steele had a 2-5 record and 3.00 ERA in 12 games.

BYUH remains No. 2: Second-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i and No. 15 Hawai'i Pacific, both idle last week, held their positions in this week's AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll.
The Seasiders, defending Division II champions, received four first-place votes and 794 points, 76 points behind No. 1 UC-San Diego. The Sea Warriors are tied with Rockhurst (Mo.) in the 15th spot this week with 311 points. Rockhurst climbed from No. 19 last week.
