BUSINESS BRIEFS
Electricity bills down slightly

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. has lowered electric bills by 0.561 percent as of Aug. 1 because of interest rate savings at its main supplier.

AES Hawai'i at Campbell Industrial Park, the island's largest generator of power, refinanced debt when rates were low and has passed on the savings, said Lynne Unemori, Hawaiian Electric spokeswoman.

The rate reduction is equal to about 48 cents for a typical monthly bill of about $102, Unemori said.
