How Hawai'i hotels are faring

All major islands but the Big Island posted double-digit growth in occupancy over last year for the week ended Sept. 13. They were led by O'ahu, which rose to 77.9 percent, boosted by a major pharmaceutical convention, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. O'ahu room rates also improved to $124.38. Statewide occupancy rose by 19 percent over last year to 74 percent for the week. Statewide room rates also improved to $136.08. Maui occupancy increased by 16.2 percent to 71.1 percent and recorded the highest room rate at $163.90.
