The Castle High School football team scored 26 points in the second half last night to rally past archrival Kailua, 40-32, before 3,966 fans at Aloha Stadium.

The Knights are 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference-East. Kailua falls to 3-1, 2-1. The teams are ranked No. 5 and No. 4, respectively, in The Advertiser's statewide Top 10 poll of coaches and media.

Ethan Gonzalves caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Kalauoka'aea and kicked a 45-yard field goal five minutes later with 3:52 remaining in the game to give the Knights a 34-24 lead. Jon Reis returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown to make it 40-24 with 3:08 left.

The Surfriders answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kelroy Kohatsu to Dylan Linkner and Kekoa Sua ran in the two-point conversion to close it to 40-32 with 2:06 remaining, but Ikaika Ho intercepted a pass with 27 seconds remaining to seal it for Castle.

The teams traded momentum swings throughout the game, starting with Matt Kanahele's 72-yard return for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. Castle went up 14-3 after Guy Humalon's 12-yard touchdown catch, but the Surfriders scored 21 straight points to take a 24-14 lead into halftime.
