WASHINGTON — Here are some actions in Congress last week.

Key House votes

1. Charitable giving

On Wednesday, the House passed, 408-13, a bill that would provide more than $12 billion in tax cuts to encourage charitable giving. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) YEA; Ed Case (D) YEA



Key Senate votes

1. Media ownership

On Tuesday, the Senate passed, 55-40, a resolution to block media ownership rules proposed by the Federal Communications Commission. A "yea" vote was to block the FCC rules.

Hawai'i votes: Daniel Akaka (D) YEA; Dan Inouye (D) YEA



2. Nuclear weapons

On Tuesday, the Senate rejected, 53-41, a plan to block research on new nuclear weapons. A "yea" vote was to block the research.
