• Philip J. Bossert, head of Hawai'i's High Technology Development Corp., or HTDC, will announce the organization's newly expanded statewide client services program and two nationally acclaimed entrepreneurship development programs at a luncheon meeting on Thursday. Bossert — a former deputy director of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism — will speak to the meeting of the HAWAII VENTURE CAPITAL ASSOCIATION, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Plaza Club, Pioneer Plaza. At the meeting, Bossert, who is HTDC executive director and chief executive officer, will also discuss a report by Dan Cook, a Harvard University master's degree candidate who has been studying the state's venture capital environment this summer. • "TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR MONEY!" an eight-part financial-education television series presented by the University of Hawai'i Cooperative Extension Service, begins today. It will feature local professionals speaking about money management. The shows are presented 8 to 9 p.m. Mondays on O'ahu, in Hilo and Kona on the Big Island, and on Kaua'i; 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesdays on Maui; with rebroadcasts at 7 p.m. Tuesdays on O'ahu, and in Kona and Hilo. • The MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER OF HONOLULU will offer free, weekly orientation sessions to minority business owners and prospective entrepreneurs. The sessions, 9 to 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday in the center's offices in Suite 2506 of the Executive Center, 1088 Bishop St., will offer advice on business startups, marketing plans, loans, employee handbooks and access to capital. • A free "COMPUTER BOOT CAMP" is offered 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to all small-business owners interested in using computer technology to improve and expand business operations and management.
