HPU is 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the PacWest. Western New Mexico is 3-8 and 0-2.

The Sea Warriors had 14 aces in the match.

• Kabalis earns honor: Chaminade's Kahala Kabalis was named PacWest Player of the Week for her performances in two victories against Hawai'i-Hilo last week.

The junior outside hitter from Hilo tallied 31 kills, 15 digs and eight aces against UH-Hilo.

BASKETBALL

• HPU signs Peciukas: The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team has signed 6-foot-9 center Audrius Peciukas, coach Russell Dung said Friday.

Peciukas, the brother of University of Hawai'i guard Vaidotas Peciukas, transferred from Arkansas-Monticello where he averaged four points and three rebounds in his freshman season. The Weevils were 9-18 last season.

"Despite a sub-.500 record, Audrius shows a lot of potential and will challenge for a starting position," Dung said. "His experience in a competitive conference will help him excel in our program."
