Oregon's Garbin honored

GARBIN
Oregon sophomore forward Nicole Garbin (Baldwin '01 of Wailuku) was named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 9 to 15, for contributing two goals and one assist in a 3-1 win over Sacramento State.

She leads the team with four goals, three assists and 11 points.

Sophomore forward Mele French (Mililani '02) has started all seven games and has two goals.

• Pacific (Ore.)

Senior Moani Lau (Kamehameha '00 of Honolulu) tied a school record with three goals in a 10-0 win over Cascade on Sept. 16. Junior Joni Kaitoku (Iolani of Mililani) and freshman Stacy Sueoka (Kaua'i of Koloa) each added a pair of goals.

Junior Jean Kasamoto (Mid-Pacific of Honolulu) had a goal, Stefanie Kawatomari (Mid-Pacific of 'Aiea) had two assists, and junior Kalei Titcomb (Kamehameha of Kailua) and freshman Brooke Hayashi (Moanalua of 'Aiea) both had an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Kawamura ('Aiea) had six saves.

Twelve of the 24 Pacific players are from Hawai'i.

• San Francisco

Junior Stacy Kodani (Seabury Hall '00 of Maui) had an assist in a 2-0 men's soccer win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.



Women's Volleyball

• Stanford vs. Oregon

Stanford junior libero Leahi Hall (King Kekaulike '00 of Ha'iku) had 11 digs for No. 4 Stanford in a 3-0 sweep of Oregon.

Oregon freshman middle blocker Sarah Mason (St. Joseph's '03 of Hilo) had 13 kills.

• Utah

Senior defensive specialist Taryn Horner (Iolani '00 of Honolulu) has played in all 35 games for the Utes, and is third on the team with 63 digs.

• Western New Mexico

Junior Kim Tano (St. Francis of Kane'ohe) had 18 kills and 29 digs and freshman Liz Narkon (St. Francis of Honolulu) added 18 kills and 19 digs last weekend as Western New Mexico lost two matches to Brigham Young-Hawai'i.



Football

• Azusa Pacific

Senior linebacker Chris Chun (Hawai'i Baptist '98 of Honolulu) had three tackles in a 31-17 win over Rocky Mountain College Saturday.



Cross Country

• Michigan

Freshman Todd Iacovelli (Punahou '02 of Kailua) finished 34th in 25 minutes, 54 seconds, at the 8,000-meter Spartan Invitational Friday.
