BYUH bashes Billings

Second-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i held host Montana State-Billings to a .000 hitting percentage en route to a 30-12, 30-17, 30-17 victory last night in a non-conference women's volleyball match.

Senior middle blocker Ashley Moeai led the Seasiders (9-2) with a match-high 15 kills on .545 hitting. Sophomore middle blocker Chun Yi Lin added 11 kills on .455 hitting.

BYUH hit .317 and had 49 kills to the hosts' 21.

Olivia Munro led Montana State-Billings with eight kills.



MORE VOLLEYBALL

• HPU wins in a sweep: Sophomore middle blocker Nadica Karlesau had a match-high 18 kills, her ninth straight match in double digits, as 14th-ranked Hawai'i Pacific swept host Western New Mexico, 30-23, 30-28, 30-23, last night in a non-conference women's match.

Flavia Brakling added 16 kills and 11 digs for HPU (7-2).

Suzanne Bruchhauser led Western New Mexico (8-9) with 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks.



WATER POLO

• Kalabic carries BYUH: All-American Vanja Kalabic scored seven goals to lead 17th-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i to a 12-7 victory over host UC-Santa Cruz yesterday in a men's water polo match.

Goalie Peter Caley stopped six shots, and had two steals and two assists to help the Seasiders improve to 2-0.

BYUH plays top-ranked and defending national champion Stanford today.
