The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team opens Western Athletic Conference play with matches at Rice tomorrow, Tulsa Sunday and a non-conference match at Oral Roberts Monday.

The seven-day road trip is the first this season for the Rainbow Wahine (5-2-1), who were selected to finish second this season to defending champion Southern Methodist in a preseason poll of conference coaches.

Rice (2-4-1) upset Hawai'i, 2-0, when the teams last met during the first-round of the WAC Tournament last season. Hawai'i is 2-2 against Rice.

Tulsa (3-4-1) has lost three straight matches after opening the season with three consecutive victories. The Golden Hurricane are led by preseason all-WAC selection Danielle Fauteux, who has five goals.

Oral Roberts (3-4-0) has one of the best goalies in the Mid-Continent Conference in sophomore Kellie Fenton. She is the defending conference defensive player of the week and owns a 1.46 goal against average.

Hawai'i will be led by sophomore forward Natasha Kai, who leads the team with 12 goals in eight matches this season. Kai shattered the school record for goals (5) and points (11) in Hawai'i's 8-0 victory against visiting Morehead State Sept. 14.

Senior midfielder Mia Moe will sit out of this week's matches with a sprained left knee suffered at Long Beach State Sept. 7.
