The Falcons rallied from one game and a six-point deficit in the second to down the Rough Riders, 22-25, 25-20, 15-7, to improve to 4-0 along with Moanalua and Farrington in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division.
"She's a great player," said Roosevelt coach Bryan Camello, whose team fell to 3-1. "She affected the confidence of our team."
Miyashiro said she missed practice Monday and Tuesday with a fever. She did not start last night's match but entered about midway through the first game.
Although Miyashiro started the second game, Roosevelt still had control, taking a 19-13 lead at one stretch with three consecutive points from middle blocker Melissa Aki and an ace from Shellane Ogoshi.
Then Miyashiro took control, scoring eight of the Falcons' final 12 points to even the match.
"We played scared," admitted Aki, who had six blocks and five kills. "We got intimidated by her."
Miyashiro began dominating when her team needed her most. The Falcons' passing had abandoned them earlier.
"We knew they had the edge, so we had to work twice as hard," Miyashiro said of her team's rally.
Kalani's first-year coach Aven Lee said her team usually does not have to rely on one person. But she did learn something about her players.
"At least I know they can come from behind," Lee said.
