The U.S has won its last six matches to improve to 20-9 this year. It also captured a medal for the fourth straight tournament.

The men's NORCECA championship runs through Sunday in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The eight teams vying for the men's NORCECA crown are Barbados, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and the United States, with Kaiser High graduate Clay Stanley.

The men's World Cup is Nov. 16-30 in Japan.

The top three teams at the World Cup qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
