How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Statewide hotel occupancy for the week ending Sept. 20 posted a 14.4 percent gain over the same period last year to 75.4 percent, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. But statewide average daily room rates dropped slightly by 1.1 percent to $136.08. Kaua'i hotel occupancy remained strong at 83.6 percent. The island's room rates rose to $157.49. O'ahu hotel occupancy saw a significant gain to 76.3 percent while its room rates grew to $119.12. Maui occupancy increased by 10 percent to 75.8 percent and rates fell to$164.03.
