R&B crooner and Grammy winner James Ingram — remember his hits "Yah Mo B There" and "One Hundred Ways"? — kicks off the Honolulu Symphony Pops with a pair of concerts. The Honolulu Jazz Quartet opens the show; Matt Catingub conducts. Tickets are $25, $35, $45, $55, $70.

CONCERT: Oct. 4

Sit back and indulge in an evening of "tiki lounge" exotica at "Primitiva," Don Tiki's tribute to the sounds of music icon Martin Denny. Here's Denny and his dog Tita with Don Tiki members Lloyd Kandell, left, and Kit Ebersbach, right. Other performers at "Primitiva" include Lopaka Col—n and Augie Col—n, Ho'okena and Teresa Bright. Tickets are $22-$36, available at the Hawai'i Theatrebox office; discounts for groups of 12 or more. A VIP ticket — $92 — includes a pre-show cocktail reception at nearby Indigo restaurant with Denny, a two-CD set of Don Tiki and a signed poster by Denny and Don Tiki.

MIXED BAG: Oct. 5

Niketown Honolulu brings back the annual Niketown 5, a 5K (3.1 miles) run, for its fourth trip down Kalakaua Avenue. There's also a one-mile Kids Run around Fort DeRussy Park for children 12 and younger. And a post-race celebration at Fort DeRussy offers prizes, food, games, clowns and entertainment. Entry fees for each race are $25 for adults 19 and older, and $10 for those 18 and younger. All of the entry fees go to O'ahu schools for play equipment and athletic programs.

CONCERT: Oct. 10

The Hawai'i Fire Fighters Association and KITV 4 present the 7th annual Hawai'i Fire Fighters benefit concert for the School Tools program. Headliner Frankie Moreno and his band bring a smooth blend of blues, soul, funk and country-rock fresh from Las Vegas. Also performing are local favorite Kapena and funnyman Andy Bumatai. Tickets are $25.

Steely Dan's "Everything Must Go" tour comes to a close with two stops in Hawai'i. The tour, which promotes the band's newest CD of the same name, has traveled all over North America, including New York, Ontario, Texas, Florida, California and Pennsylvania. The jazzy rock band is known for such hits as "Can't Buy a Thrill," "Countdown to Ecstasy," "Aja" and "True Companion." Tickets are $66, $71 and $81.

CONCERT: Oct. 17

You want them back? Well, you can have them ... the Dance Hall Crashers, right, are smashing into Honolulu yet again. The band is best known for ska-licious catchy songs such as "Old and Grey," "He Wants Me Back" and "DHC," and the members also have a penchant for hitting up late-night eatery Eggs 'n' Things when in town. Tickets: $18.50.

Chocoholics, unite! The Bishop Museum will soon bring in the deliciously rich yet calorie-free traveling exhibit "Chocolate." Satisfy your sweet tooth by going on a yummy historical and interactive tour designed to amaze, entertain and educate chocolate lovers of all ages. Examine a life-size cacao tree, explore chocolate-inspired artifacts and discover the history of chocolate in Hawai'i. Admission is $14.95 for adults, $11.95 for children ages 4-12, seniors and military, and free for children under 4 and Bishop Museum Association members.

Good golly, Miss Molly! Get ready for a Rock and Roll super show featuring icons Little Richard, left, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. So go, go, go, Johnnies and Janies, because it'll be a-wop-bop-a-loo-mop-a-lop-bam-boom good time as these three legendary performers rock the house. Tickets: $45 and $55.

Let Lou Rawls, left, serenade you under the stars in a concert benefiting the Hawai'i International Film Festival. Rawls, with his velvety smooth voice, is known for such hits as "Lady Love, "You'll Never Find" and "Natural Man." Tickets are $100, including admission to the concert, two champagne cocktails, sneak preview of one of the HIFF feature films and admission to the HIFF opening night; or $200, includes all that plus admission to the concert with preferred seating in Assaggio's for dinner and wine.

Caper cues: Hawai'i Theatre's fund-raising Caper, Oct. 4 at Neiman Marcus, will have a silent auction item that could solve your Christmas shopping problem — and you can have fun with your friends. It's a holiday party for 40 at Compadres Bar & Grill, with special guest Jimmy Borges, who'll take the group aboard a Roberts-donated trolley ride through Honolulu City Lights as they all sing Christmas carols together. The party comes on the heels of Borges' appearance at the Hawai'i Theatre this December in "A Merry Christmas With Friends and Nabors," the Nabors being Jim, of course. Gollee: Jim Nabors will emcee the Honolulu Symphony's 22nd Annual Fun Run and Walk, set for 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at Fort Ruger Park. Nabors will serve as grand marshal, guiding about 2,000 participants through their paces. Information: 524-0815, ext. 233.

Sea worthy: "Finding Nemo," the Disney animated hit of the summer, arrives in a two-disc DVD collection edition (and VHS, of course), Nov. 4. Deleted scenes, making-of documentary, games and a virtual aquarium are some of the extras on DVD. Just in time for your early Christmas shopping — as if your kids will wait that long.

Shoo-be-Dube-do: Lucky Dube, the reggae dude, is touring three islands: 9 p.m. Oct. 10 at Kapono's; 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center; and 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Swing Zone in Kailua-Kona. Tickets are $19.50.
