Football: Nuggets sign ex-BYUH player

DENVER — Japanese guard Yuta Tabuse signed with the Denver Nuggets yesterday.

The 5-foot-9 Tabuse, from Yokohama, played for BYU-Hawai'i from 2000-2002 before joining the Toyota Alvark of the Japan Basketball League. An NBA Japan spokesperson said Tabuse would be the first Japanese player in an NBA training camp.

BYU-Hawai'i said Tabuse is the first former Seasider to sign an NBA contract.

"He's a great young man, and it's nice to see him do well," BYU-Hawai'i head coach Ken Wagner said.
