Kim stumbles to 5-over 75, but leads Waikoloa Open by one stroke

Tommy Kim faltered to a 5-over 75 yesterday but kept a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the 30th Waikoloa Open at the Beach Course.

Kim (141) leads Daryl Inaba and Lance Suzuki in the field of Aloha Section PGA professionals and other top players in the state.

Larry Stubblefield (137) leads the senior pro flight by one over Dick McClean. Brandon Abrue (141) leads the championship flight, Waiakea High junior Amanda Wilson (152) leads A flight, Mark Phipps (159) leads B flight and Pat Ryan (175) leads C flight.

• UH finishes 15th: Freshman Dale Gammie shot a team-best 83—237 as the University of Hawai'i women placed 15th yesterday in the 17-team Dick McGuire Invitational at Albuquerque, N.M.



MEETINGS

Na Koa: University of Hawai'i head football coach June Jones and assistant coach Rich Miano will analyze film from last night's game against Rice at tomorrow's meeting of the Na Koa Football Club.

They will also preview Saturday's road game against Tulsa.

The luncheon meeting — $13 for members, $15 for guests — starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

QB Club: Jim Thompson, founder of Positive Coaching Alliance, will speak at tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

Also scheduled to appear are attorney Jim Nicholson, a former Saint Louis School and NFL player, and University of Hawai'i football assistants Vantz Singletary and Tyson Helton.

The luncheon meeting — $7.50 for members, $8 for guests — will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Hotel ballroom.



WATER POLO

BYUH doubles up: Dutch Turley's goal lifted No. 18 Brigham Young-Hawai'i to its second double-overtime victory of the day — a 10-9 conquest of No. 20 UC-Davis last night at the UC-Santa Cruz Slugfest men's tournament.

Vanja Kalabic, Vlada Stankovic and Jordan Brink scored three goals apiece for BYUH (5-3).

Earlier, Keith Dow scored the game-winner as BYUH defeated No. 14 Air Force, 7-6.



CROSS COUNTRY

Kamehameha sweeps: Led by Jessica Domingo's fourth-place finish, the Kamehameha girls cross country team won the 22nd Ram Invitational yesterday at Daly City, Calif.

Domingo finished the 2.4-mile course in 15 minutes, 11 seconds.

Kamehameha scored 44 points to beat out 30 other teams.

The Warriors, led by Alyssa Chun's second-place finish (16:33), also won the junior varsity division. They scored 41 points to beat out 26 other teams.
