Trade Winds

• The Hawaii Theatre Center has re-elected Robert Midkiff chairman of the nonprofit organization for the coming year. Serving with him are vice chairpersons MARY WEYAND, MICHAEL PFEFFER, TRISH O'NEILL and AL TOMONARI; secretary JAYE GLASER; and treasurer PAUL SCHRAFF.

• Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services has announced that DR. DAVID DERAUF, the facility's clinical director for 14 years, and BRENDA MATHIAS, assistant executive director and director of finance for 13 years, will share the role of executive director of KKV.

Replacing Derauf as clinical director is DR. LAURA DeVILBISS, a physician at KKV since 1999. Both Derauf and DeVilbiss will continue to see patients. Joining the facility as financial director is ALLEN KANNO, formerly with Child and Family Services. JANET PRIMIANO, KKV's professional education and training coordinator for medical and dental residents and interns, will serve concurrently as youth services coordinator.

Kokua Kalihi Valley is a community-organized and -operated, nonprofit facility providing family services, including dental and medical services, health and nutritional education, behavioral health services and social services.

ROB SHELTON has been named general manager of Kapalua Resort's Kapalua Villas. He has worked for 25 years in management, 23 of them at Kapalua Resort. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations of the villa rental program, he will continue duties as general manager of The Kapalua Club, a club membership program for Kapalua homeowners. Among his past assignments have been room service manager, cost controller and director of purchasing and retail operations at the Kapalua Bay Hotel and Ocean Villas. The Villas is the only Maui condominium property listed in Condé Nast's Top 25 Tropical Resorts.

• Several appointments have been announced by Territorial Savings Bank: WALTER IDA, former director of business development at the accounting firm KPMG, has been named vice president of strategic planning at the bank. Also named were ROBERT TAKESHITA, manager of the bank's downtown branch, and KEN MORIMOTO, manager of the Kailua branch. Takeshita is a former vice president and branch manager who was with Finance Factors for 22 years. Morimoto was previously an account executive for Ameriquest Mortgage.

• HomeStreet Bank has announced two appointments: RICHARD ABE, who was promoted to Hawai'i sales manager in 1999, has been promoted again, to the new position of regional residential construction loan production manager. He will oversee loans for single-family construction and renovation in the state.

GERALD TANAKA has been hired by HomeStreet as regional production manager, overseeing residential permanent loan production for the bank's five Hawai'i branches. The 25-year industry veteran previously was builder accounts manager at North American Mortgage Co., and has served as president of the Hawaii Mortgage Bank Association and chairman of the Building Industry Association Parade of Homes.

MICHAEL A. MOSS, former president and chief executive officer of Hawaii Benefits Inc., has moved, along with five other members of the company's core producer group, to financial planning company AIG VALIC. In his new position as AIG VALIC branch manager, he joins financial advisers Brian Kawano, Krystal Emge, Tucker Torigoe, Bert Nakamura and Albert Lee.

• Hawaiian Airlines has named GORDON P. LOCKE senior vice president of marketing and sales. He is former vice president of marketing and enterprise development for Rosenbluth International, the fourth-largest global travel company. Locke was responsible for Rosenbluth's global marketing group, e-commerce strategy and sales.
