Man questioned in home robbery

Police questioned a 23-year-old Kane'ohe man on Friday about a Sept. 6 home-invasion robbery. A 640-pound safe stolen in the robbery contained rare $1,000 bills, police said. The man on Wednesday allegedly offered to sell seven U.S. $1,000 bills to a Honolulu coin and stamp dealer.

The man was booked on suspicion of second-degree theft but was not charged. Police said none of the $1,000 bills allegedly offered for sale has been recovered.

Waikiki attacker gave no reason

A 45-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm early today at a Waikiki bus stop. The 2:06 a.m. attack occurred at Kuhio and Seaside avenues. The man was treated at The Queen’s Medical Center. He told police the assailant walked by and stabbed him for no reason. The assailant fled without stopping or saying anything to the victim, police said.

Two sentenced in drug case

Two brothers have been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for their involvement in an ice-trafficking organization in Hawai'i.

U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway sentenced James M. Muns yesterday to 11 years and three months in prison. On Sept. 22, Mollway gave Harold O. Muns the same sentence.

The two men were convicted of arranging for 20 pounds of ice to be transported to Hawai'i for distribution in March 1998, said U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo. Law enforcement agents seized about 13 of the 20 pounds from Aloalii Tootoo, who was convicted in a separate case, Kubo said.
