Tonight's Must-See

"One Tree Hill," 8 p.m., WB. In last week's debut set in a basketball-obsessed town, key players were dropped from the high school team. Now the rich-kid star (James Lafferty) must share the spotlight with a pensive, modest-income guy (Chad Michael Murray). Both like the same girl and both may have the same father. Tonight, they have their first game, with disastrous results.

"The Blues: The Road to Memphis," 9 p.m., PBS. The modern history of the blues is dominated by the busy life of B.B. King. He picked cotton in the Mississippi delta, was a radio disc jockey, and became a great singer and guitarist, helping Memphis become a music mecca. Tonight's film follows King, Bobby Rush and Rosco Gordon, returning for a Memphis concert. It has classic footage of Ike Turner, Fats Domino, Little Richard, the Coasters and Howlin' Wolf.

Of Note

"Whoopi," 7 p.m., NBC. Nasim, the Iranian-born handyman, is cited for spitting. Mavis wants to go to court, but he'd rather not.

"8 Simple Rules," 7 p.m., ABC. This is one of the final two episodes starring the late John Ritter. Tonight, Kerry is appalled to find that her mom is teaching her sex-education class.

"I'm With Her," 7:30 p.m., ABC. Jim Belushi (whose show follows this) guest-stars. The story has the mismatched couple — a teacher and a movie star — planning their second date.

"According to Jim," 8 p.m., ABC. Chicago Bears fan Jim (Jim Belushi) frets when his son starts cuddling a Green Bay Packers football.

"Frasier," 8 p.m., NBC. Frasier receives gifts and attention from the Seattle Opera conductor (Patrick Stewart). Others warn that he has the incorrect (but common) assumption that Frasier is gay.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. Rory Culkin (the "Signs" co-star who is Macaulay's youngest brother) plays a troubled teen. Mare Winningham plays his mother.
