Science contest seeking entrants
The Siemens Foundation will post instructions today for those interested in competing for $1,000 to $100,000 scholarships in the 2004-05 Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science & Technology.
Previous winners have made advances in understanding how the brain works and created a computer model that could help identify ways to reduce the spread of the West Nile virus.
Students may enter as individuals or as a team.

Kaua'i students eligible for awards
LIHU'E, Kaua'i Kaua'i students headed for college are eligible for two local scholarships.
The Margaret Sloggett Fisher Scholarship provides $1,000 scholarships for graduate students and college juniors and seniors studying in Hawai'i or the Mainland, with preference given to Kaua'i residents. It is aimed at students in historical preservation, museum studies, history, anthropology, and Hawaiian, ethnic and American studies. Applications are due April 15. For information, call 245-3202.
The Contractors Association of Kaua'i will award up to $4,500 to high school seniors or college students in construction-related fields. This program is limited to Kaua'i County residents. Applications are due by May 3. For information, call 246-2662.
