ROBERT J. WALKER, president and chief executive officer of Castle Medical Center for seven years, has announced his retirement effective June 30, for health and family-related reasons. The search for a new administrator of the 157-bed Windward O'ahu facility will be conducted by the hospital board of directors, and board chairman Larry Dodds, senior vice-president of Adventist Health.

AARON T. OKINAKA, former catering director at the Ilikai, Hawaiian Regent and Ala Moana hotels, and most recently, The Plaza Club, has been named general manager of catering operations at Koolau Catering Partners at the Koolau Golf Club. His duties will include all aspects of catering operations, including sales and marketing.

JANELLE KALAWE has joined PacificBasin Communications as graphic designer in the company's production department. The former Trade Publishing graphic designer replaces another graphic artist, MAGGIE FUJINO, who has joined the weekly Downtown Planet newspaper, also published by PacificBasin Communications. Also joining Pacific Basin Communications as traffic coordinator of Hawaii Business Magazine is INA CHANG.

JASON HAGIWARA, former local sales manager at KITV, has been hired as a consultant for KIKU-TV, responsible for day-to-day station management operations while KIKU general manager PHYLLIS KIHARA reduces her role temporarily to function as communications director for mayoral candidate Duke Bainum. KIKU has also hired a 25-year local industry veteran LINDA BADE as production manager and KIRSTEN FUJITANI as senior account manager. Fujitani is former senior account manager at KGMB, and, for the past two years, operator of her own marketing consulting firm, Kukui Marketing.

• Communications Pacific has announced two promotions to account executive: MELISSA MALAHOFF-KAMEI, a firm intern in 2002, and hired in the firm's corporate communications group in 2003 as an account coordinator; and CARISSA SHIMON, a member of the company's promotional public relations group, who joined the firm as assistant account executive in 2003.
