Boston to use DVD technology

Technology used to create personalized DVDs for participants in the Honolulu Marathon will be available to participants in the 108th Boston Marathon on April 19.

Honolulu-based Sports Media Productions Worldwide created the MyMarathonDVD technology, which was introduced at the Ironman World Triathlon Championships in October and used in the Honolulu Marathon in December.


UH business alumni honored

The University of Hawai'i College of Business will honor four of its alumni for their professional achievements tonight during the college's "Business Night."

The honorees are Dee Jay Mailer, chief executive of Kamehameha Schools; Hideo Noguchi, founder and chief executive of Noguchi & Associates; T.C. Chan, head of Citigroup operations in Taiwan; and Jim Hassett, area managing partner of Ernst & Young serving Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.


SBA honors duo at luncheon

Peter Robson and Randy Finlay, owners of Unlimited Construction Services Inc., were named small business persons of the year for Hawai'i, the U.S. Small Business Administration said yesterday.

Rann Watumull of the Bank of Hawaii was named Hawai'i's small business financial services advocate for 2004.

These and other winners will be honored at the 17th annual small business award luncheon on April 28 at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort.


Canada carrier to serve Hawai'i

HMY Airways, a Vancouver-based carrier, will start service to Hawai'i from Vancouver, British Columbia, beginning June 25 with three flights a week to Honolulu and one flight a week to Maui.

HMY will offer an introductory one-way fare of $269 to Honolulu, $299 to Maui.

The flights will increase the number of scheduled nonstop seats from Canada to Hawai'i, which was 101,593 during the first quarter of 2004, according to state Department of Business Economic Development & Tourism.
