Firefighters were investigating the source of a chemical odor complaint today at Straub’s Pearlridge Clinic at 98-151 Pali Momi St.

The clinic was evacuated and four people overcome by the odor were taken to Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada. Eight others complaining of running nose, scratchy throat and burning and watery eyes from the odor were being treated at the scene, added Tejada.

Straub’s clinic is located in Suite 142. No other offices in the building were evacuated, said Tejada.

Firefighters responded to the building at 9:57 a.m. Hazardous materials specialists were investigating the cause of the odor but Tejada said there’s no chemical leak.

Pali Momi Street was closed to traffic as the HazMat specialists checked out the building.
