FUN HOUSE
6-year-old ponders late arrival

A few years back, our whole family traveled to Kona airport for the arrival of the supersonic Concorde, which was making a historical trip around the world with Kona as one of its stopovers. For some reason, the jetliner was very late in arriving.

While waiting, our daughter, Kristyn, listened to her grandfather describe the beauty of the Concorde: that it could fly close to 1,000 mph.

Hearing this, Kristyn, with all the wisdom and innocence of a 6-year-old, asked, "How come the plane is so late when it can fly so fast?"
