But Johnson himself co-produced longtime friend Frankenreiter's self-titled debut CD of laid-back beach folk.
Recorded here last year at Johnson's Mango Tree home studio, Frankenreiter's soon-to-be-released disc will ring familiar to anyone who's grooved to "Brushfire Fairytales" or "On And On."
Johnson lends 'ukulele, guitar and bass support throughout, and contributes a guest vocal to the bouncy "Free."
Also lending support: Eels keyboardist Koool G. Murder, vocalist G. Love (of Special Sauce), and professional surfer/guitarist Rob Machado.
Frankenreiter's CD, on Johnson's Brushfire Records label, is set for a May 11 release.

There is life after divorce.
More than a quarter of adult Americans have been divorced at some time in their lives, according to a recent Gallup Poll, but only 10 percent are currently divorced.
That means 63 percent of divorcees have remarried. And chances are that many of those who have yet to remarry eventually will.
So, while marriages may fail, the will to be married endures.
