After more than a year of on-again off-again construction of the Nu'uanu gateway signs, work is now expected to be completed in May, according to the city.

Construction of the $576,000 project has been slowed by the wet winter weather, but crews from Makakilo Nursery are working on the final grading and landscaping, according to city spokeswoman Carol Costa.
Motorists traveling south on Pali Highway at Waokanaka Street can see one of the Nu'uanu signs.
"If the weather holds up, the landscaping portion ... should be done by early May," Costa said.
The two signs, one at Wyllie Street and the other at Waokanaka Street, have been criticized as too expensive for community signs, but they are part of a traffic calming project and worth the cost, according to the city.
