15 football players to be honored

Advertiser Staff

Kahuku's Walker Vave, the Advertiser's All-State Defensive Player of the Year in football, is one of 15 players who will be honored as a scholar-athlete by the Hawai'i Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on May 2.

The honorees, nominated by their schools, are seniors who were successful on the field, in the classroom — all had to achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average — and in the community.

The banquet is 5:15 p.m. at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Monarch Room.

Tickets are $38 per person, and tables of 10 are available from $400 to $500. The deadline is April 28. For information, call 732-8805.
